What is Community Visioning?
Community Visioning is a process that allows our residents the opportunity to express opinions and values about Nassau County and preferences about our future.
How will the Community Visioning project benefit me?
You will have the opportunity for involvement.
Your city and county officials will have a long-term perspective and outline for setting goals and priorities and creating policy.
You will define your values. You will have a clear perspective of what you want your your family and your community.
You will have an opportunity to generate ideas for the future.
It creates excitement and a sense of adventure about the future.
It creates a sense of "we" and "we will" as the basis for establishing the relationships and commitment to get things done -- a barn-raising "can do" mentality.
Why should I participate in Community Visioning?
Nassau County can no longer afford to just react to change, events and growth. Our Leaders need tools to take charge and embrace the future; visioning will give them these tools.
Community empowerment.
Our community will be ready to meet the future.
Together we will set priorities and initiatives to fund and accomplish.
Together we will focus the community and government entities on established results.
Together we will create a criteria for funding our priorities.
Our leaders will have a framework in which to make those tough decisions.
We will have an action plan to guide and evaluate our progress.
